摘要
Ferrofluids are colloidal suspensions having a variety of applications in 3D printing biological microarrays, pharmaceutics. and drug delivery. In particular. the spiky structures in ferrofluids can be utilized in small satellites as the propelling thrusters This study proposes a coupled simplified lattice Boltzmann method (SLBM) and a self-correcting procedure to simulate complex multiphase ferrofluid flows. slbm have the properties of less computational cost and easy implementation of macroscopic boundary conditions. On the other hand. a self-correcting procedure can be utilized to define the magnetic field of a permanent magnet without an additional magnetization equation. To justify the validity and accuracy of this method, several benchmark phenomena are simulated and compared with experimental and theoretical results. The influence of magnetic field on stationary and sliding ferrofluid droplets is explained through laboratory experiments as well as computer simulations. A detailed analysis of surface instabilities in ferrofluid lavers is also provided. All fundamental investigations described in this study will develop a rational understanding to remove several technical difficulties regarding, but not confined to droplet-based microfluidics and surface instabilities in ferrofluid layers.
