Lecture summary:

Professor Gu Xu's report introduces his personal opinions from "the necessity of scientific research innovation", "the four basic principles of scientific research innovation: combining basic research and applied research, integrating various fields, abundant time, transcending conventions", "the general laws of scientific and technological development (the examples of Europe, America, Japan and Newport)", and analyzes the innovation cases and introduces the experience of scientific research innovation.

Introduction to the keynote speaker:

Gu Xu is currently a full professor (tenure) of the department of materials science and engineering at McMaster university, Canada, and a member of the Canadian academy of engineering. Professor Gu Xu's research involves nanomaterials, electrochemistry and sensors. The current focus is on nanotechnology in electrochemical energy, conversion and storage, including fuel cells and sensors, research and development. So far, more than 100 scientific and technical papers have been published and cited more than 3,800 times.
